SET THE WORLD’S VULNERABLE CHILDREN FREE FROM TRAUMA

ONE billion children around the world experience a traumatic event every year. Without help, trauma is likely to multiply in their lives. While humanitarian aid is essential, it is not enough to heal their broken hearts and set them free.

But 1 mobilized person - engaged, equipped, and empowered, can break the chains and set vulnerable children in their community free to thrive.

Mobilization cannot happen without your support. No matter how much you give, your partnership will set vulnerable children free to thrive.

MORE WAYS TO GIVE

  • Make a gift in a loved one’s name. Note their name and your message when you give, and we’ll send a special card to let them know of the gift you have made in their honor.

  • Send your check to RiverCross, PO Box 91301, Raleigh, NC 27675

  • Giving appreciated stocks and mutual funds is a great way to maximize your giving because you receive an immediate income tax deduction for the full fair market value of securities you transfer that you’ve held for at least one year. In addition, you pay no capital gains tax on the difference between your cost and the fair market value. Consult with your financial and/or tax advisor to analyze your particular situation and confirm tax benefits.

    How to Give

To improve efficiency, RiverCross has partnered with the National Christian Foundation (NCF) to process gifts of marketable securities, such as stocks, mutual funds, or bonds, directly.

If you’d like to give a stock, mutual fund, bond, or marketable security gift, please follow these instructions.

If you are interested in giving restricted securities, stock options, or matching gifts from your employer, please contact Kathryn Williams or call (919) 438-0350.

    IRA Qualified Charitable Distributions

If you are over 70-1/2 years old, then you may distribute directly from your IRA to RiverCross up to $100,000 and exclude the contributed amount from your gross income for tax purposes. This amount can be counted towards the IRA’s annual required minimum distribution. Consult with your financial and/or tax advisor to analyze your particular situation and confirm tax benefits.

  • Check with your employer on their matching gift program. We will be happy to complete the paperwork so that your gift is doubled.

  • Include RiverCross in your church’s mission program by not only giving, but by praying, and training to set vulnerable children in your community free from trauma.

  • By sponsoring a RiverCross Production, you can build a FREEDOM BRIDGE for vulnerable children around the world. 100% of your designated donation will fund a production.

HOW SPONSORSHIP WORKS

  1. You make a donation.

Production projects take between 6 months and 18 months. We’ll keep you updated along the way.

A CAREFUL APPROACH

RESEARCH

With the help of trusted partners, we examine the evidence and determine the core content, key objectives, and desired outcomes for each program focusing on a specific type of vulnerability or adversity.

DEVELOPMENT

Our script writers go to work developing a narrative outline and drafting a script. The script goes through extensive review by experts in trauma and mental health, cultural expertise, and faith in adversity. After three rounds of edits, the script is finalized.

STUDIO

Our production manager works with a casting agent to audition and secure actors and develop a recording schedule that maximizes the quality of the production and minimizes cost.

MUSIC AND SOUND EFFECTS

Original music is composed and scored and sound effects are laid to create an immersive experience for the listener.

FINAL PROGRAM

The production is “in the can” and ready to be used for RiverCross Training, RiverCross Clubs, and for broadcast in communities where there is a vibrant community of Rivercross partners.

LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT

Every RiverCross Production is designed for language development. The tracks can be separated so that that only the voice track needs to be recorded and sound engineered.

ALREADY PRODUCED

BRIDGE TO FREEDOM - Orphans and Vulnerable Children

Orphanhood is a reality for more than 150 million children around the world. Sadly more than 80% of these children experience abuse and exploitation. Without intervention, these children are vulnerable to further abuse, trafficking, and early pregnancy.

PRODUCTION IMPACT: MEET A LOCAL PARTNER

Micah from Lusaka, Zambia, participated in a RiverCross workshop in 2014 and 2016. As a result of this workshop, she returned to school to get her teaching certification and training as a counselor.

Micah travels to villages in a number of provinces leading RiverCross workshops, educating elders, and helping children get out of abusive situations and into safety.

JABOTA BRIDGE- CHILD REFUGEES

Half of the global population of refugees are children. Leaving their country of origin, often due to war, is not an easy choice for their parents. And sometimes the children are forced to flee on their own due to the death of their parents in conflict.

PRODUCTION IMPACT: MEET A LOCAL PARTNER

Maggie with Refugee Hope Partners in Raleigh, NC leads an educational program that serves hundreds of children in refugee families. Maggie participated in her first RiverCross Equip Workshop in 2019.

Since that time, Maggie, along with her staff, have used the knowledge they gained and the skills they learned to help the children they serve build relationships, increase their safety factors, and gain understanding of the factors that led to their family fleeing their country of origin.

SPONSOR THESE NEW PRODUCTIONS

WELCOME THE SOJOURNER traces the journey of refugee families as they settle in their new community to raise awareness and equip those working with refugees and immigrants with the knowledge and skills they need to strengthen the children’s  resiliency and help them flourish.

JOURNEY HOME addresses the needs of children in the United States who have a high number of adverse childhood experiences and whose families are at-risk of disruption. Up to 80% of children in the foster care system have significant mental health challenges. Because of their complex traumas, adults who were in the foster care system experience post-traumatic stress disorder at a rate of five times the general population. This program will follow the journey of a sibling group experiencing severe challenges in their home. It will address foster care, adoption, reunification, permanency.

While there are other quality trauma training programs, RiverCross offers something unique. By anchoring their workshops in award-winning audio dramas, RiverCross engages both the heart and the mind. Their approach points people to the hope of the Gospel, advances locally-led leadership, equips individuals with the knowledge and skills they need to protect orphans and vulnerable children from trauma and – when the unthinkable happens – brings restoration.”

RiverCross’ material is engaging and therapeutic while it journeys participants through a story much like their own. The material is information without being overly didactic and I find that it speaks to participants in a way that allows them to feel known, loved and heard. This is what every childhood deserves and it’s why we think investing in the development of RiverCross’ programmatic efforts is an investment worthy of our time and resources.

During my time living in Sub-Saharan Africa, I often witnessed the effects of trauma on vulnerable children. Despite how common trauma is, there are very few organizations addressing it. When I learned about RiverCross’s approach using storytelling and care-provider training, I finally had hope again for those who have been victims of trauma: that through these resources they could experience true freedom and healing in Christ. The replicability and scalability of their model has the potential to positively impact children and their care providers around the world.
